Free Math Games for K-2nd Grades

To support students in building their math skills, we’ve adapted Teachley’s lesson plans to create family-friendly games for Kindergarten, first and second grade students to play offline at home. They also make a great addition to a math center at school.

Addition

Make Ten Go Fish - Practice adding combinations of ten (e.g. 7+3).

Doubles Bingo (2-10) - Reinforce doubles addition facts (e.g. 4+4).

Near Doubles - Use double facts to solve near doubles problems (e.g. 4+5).

Near Tens - Practice using tens facts to solve near tens problems (e.g. 7+4).

Doubles Bingo (2-20) - Doubles addition facts through 20.

Adding 8’s & 9’s - Use the 10-frame to solve addition facts with 8 and 9 (e.g. 8+5).

Subtraction

Within 5 Card Game - “Count on” or “count back” to solve small subtraction problems.

Within 10 Card Game - “Count on” or “count back” to solve subtraction problems within 10.

Subtract 1 or 2 (Within 10) Open Number Line - Model subtraction on the number line.

Subtract 1, 2 or 3 (Within 20) Open Number Line - Use an open number line to practice subtraction problems within 20.
