Teachley Math Practice Kits Research Opportunity

Get early access at your school during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years free!

Teachley Math Practice Kits are a supplemental resource for elementary teachers that help teach math practices. The transmedia kits combine videos, games, posters, lessons and books to help students develop understanding of these practices and correct common misconceptions students hold across different math domains.

With a grant awarded by the Department of Education, WestEd a renowned non-profit research institution will study the implementation, engagement, and effectiveness of the Math Practice Kits with 3rd grade classrooms during the 2022-23 school year with continued free access during the 2023-24 school year.

Participants in the research study, will receive early access to Teachley Math Practice Kits, including:

Animated Videos. Videos promote key math practices to overcome common misconceptions.

Engaging Games. Strong visual and audio scaffolds support all students to succeed.

Books. Physical and electronic books bridge literacy and math with engaging comic style narratives.

Lessons. The plans support rich class discussions and peer-to-peer learning.

Classroom Posters. Each poster features a character who embodies one of the math practices.


Participating schools/districts will be asked to:

  • invite 3rd grade teachers to join training webinars and implement the kits while teaching multiplication, multi-digit add/subtract, and fractions.

  • share feedback via surveys and/or virtual conferencing.

  • administer math assessments before and after implementing the Math Practice Kits.

  • provide benchmark assessment data (e.g. MAP, iReady).
